One Economy Foundation reports fraudulent tender documents to police
Staff Reporter THE One Economy Foundation has distanced itself from fraudulent procurement activities carried out using its name and official letterhead, saying it has launched an internal investigation and reported the matter to the Namibian Police. The Foundation said it became aware of fraudulent procurement documents circulating on Thursday, 18 June 2026, which were allegedly created without its knowledge or authorisation and used to solicit payments from third parties under false pretences. In a statement issued, the Foundation said it had taken immediate action after discovering the alleged fraud, including launching an internal investigation and placing a staff member whose name appears on some of the documents on precautionary suspension. The organisation stressed that the suspension was precautionary and did not imply any finding of guilt, but was intended to allow for an unhindered investigation. The matter has also been formally reported to the Namibian Police for criminal investigation. “The One Economy Foundation hereby clarifies that we did not issue a tender, authorise or receive any of the funds allegedly paid by an affected party,” the Foundation said. The organisation expressed regret that its name had been used to mislead members of the public and said it recognised the potential harm caused to individuals who may have acted in good faith. The Foundation urged anyone who believes they may have been affected by the scheme, or any other fraudulent activity involving its name, to contact Commissioner Kaura at the Commercial Crime Investigation Unit. The organisation further warned that it does not issue high-value tenders and advised the public to verify any procurement notices bearing its name through its official communication channels before responding. “The One Economy Foundation remains committed to the transparency and accountability that our staff, donors, partners and the communities we serve expect of us,” the statement read.
